“My priority is always to design a dress that highlight a woman’s figure at its best. My signature look is a combination of a glamorous silhouette and feminine detail.” - Elie Saab.

Legendary Lebanese designer Elie Saab, has been the leading trend in glamorous gowns couture in the Middle East, where his romantic, crystal-encrusted masterpieces are synonymous to princesses and royalty.

His Beirut studio, opened doors in 1982. Mr. Saab’s elegant dresses, gently denoted by soft edges and exquisite detail are today worn by the rich and famous around the world in fashion places such as Beirut, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Moscow, New York, and Paris.

Coming to fame as an eminent designer in Italy, in 2002 Elie Saab’s fame reached new heights when Halle Berry wore one of his designs to receive her Oscar for Best Actress, thus becoming the first Lebanese designer to dress an Oscar Academy Award winner.

In 1982, He made his wish come true: He established his own couture house - an extravagant and improbable adventure at a time when war was still raging. During the time, war would never stand in the way of his goals. Indeed, fashion proved to be a great antidote to adversity and the atelier did a roaring trade - when wedding dresses joined the collection of party gowns. He embarked on a career that would soon bring him worldwide fame. His talented and ambitious visionary was already on an exceptional path.

“The culture is in the dress, in the cut and the shape, with layers and movement. And there's also the embroidery. It’s these small details that make a difference,” said Amine Jreissati, fashion editor for Marie Claire Arabia – a well-established fashion magazine.

Despite the challenges of the Lebanese civil war, Elie Saab found inspiration for his research and development not only in the pre-war French influences in Beirut, but also in traditional Lebanese culture themselves. The elegance is mainly evident in women’s evening gowns that appear in smooth flowing, intricately stitched, fully-studded dresses with simple lines.

His ready-to-wear line launched in 1998 in Milan, heralding the same classic feminine aesthetics as his fine couture dresses, with brightly colored silks, chiffons, pearl beading, and mesmerizingly embroidered lace. Masterful weaving of Middle Eastern details, coupled by European sensibility transformed his fusion of Easten and Western influences. With typical preference to rich materials such as , organza (also made of silk), taffeta (a woven fine fabric made of silk), mated with satin, with liquid fabric such as muslin and lace. His dresses often incorporate sequins, semi-precious stones, and Swarovski crystals stitched into feminine curves and shapes. His gowns are also at home on the Hollywood Red Carpet.

With sporty trends influence, Elie Saab still sends athletic garments spotlights down his runway, adding a new perspective of energetic interest to his reliably glamorous collection. It comes with wavy surface of ocean and the lower of edge that rippled like waves.

Saab very rarely uses prints, preferring the simplicity of a solid-color dress, but 2015 marks a new seasonal line that is inspired by his mother's tulip garden, proving to be a powerful totem of immense emotional expression.

The devil’s in the details, and Saab dresses always have that extra something - the utmost in femininity and glamour - that elevates mere celebrities into princesses, and princesses into a timeless classic royalty. The moniker of “The King of the Red Carpet” is no small hat, and no one else can rock out masterpieces time and again like Saab. From humble beginnings of pure devotion in his work of supremely elegant evening dresses, to the glitz and glamour of today, the self-taught couturier runs a his significantly global empire with a wide range of designs including haute couture, ready-to wear, accessories, and even fragrance. Humble, he would say, “it is only the beginning!” And so the tale of the indomitable Elie Saab, whose power of seduction is only the beginning, shows the limits of which even cannot be measured.
